  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Balance disorders
  • Guillain-Barré Syndrome
  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Hereditary movement disorders

Physiotherapy treatment

Treatment approaches are individualised according to the needs of clients, drawing from a range of techniques utilised in neuro-physiotherapy. Depending on the circumstances of the individual, treatment approaches can use a combination of physio techniques and strategies, such as:

  • Movement relearning
  • Stretching programs
  • Strength training
  • Management of muscle tone
  • Balance training
  • Sensory retraining
  • Hydrotherapy programs
  • Gymnasium programs
  • Prescription of home exercises
  • Training of family and carers
  • Prescription of walking aids
  • Wheelchair prescription
  • Splinting

Given Neurocentral Physiotherapy’s focus on assisting clients to reintegrate back into regular activity in a community setting, treatment programs are usually targeted towards developing exercise routines that can be undertaken at home or in the community. This approach enables clients to develop skills and confidence in self-managing their disability, rather than creating a reliance on regular physio input.
